Pick Your Palette. Print and Cut. Mix and Match. Layer and Create.

This simple process is really the heart of the entire collection.

Pick a palette that matches your project.

Print the pages you'd like to use.

Cut out the pieces.

Then begin experimenting.

Because everything within a palette was designed to coordinate, there's very little guesswork involved. You don't have to wonder whether a frame will match a label. You don't have to worry about whether a decorative accent will clash with a journaling card.

You can focus on creating instead of color matching.

The Colorful Embellishments Collection
Nearly 2,000 Printable Embellishment Pages Designed To Make Layering Easy
by: Lindsay Allyn
If you've ever sat down to create a journal page, scrapbook layout, handmade card, planner spread, or mixed media project and felt overwhelmed by all the choices sitting in front of you, you're not alone.

One of the biggest challenges paper crafters face isn't creativity. It's coordination.

You might have beautiful papers. Gorgeous printable ephemera. Lovely journal kits. Vintage embellishments you've collected over the years. Stickers. Tags. Labels. Frames. Decorative pieces.

But when it's time to put everything together, something feels off.

The colors don't quite match.

The embellishments compete with each other instead of working together.

You find yourself shuffling pieces around, wondering why the page doesn't look like the beautiful projects you see online.

That's exactly why I created the Colorful Embellishments Collection.

I wanted a collection of printable embellishments that would work with almost everything. A collection filled with layering embellishments, printable scrapbook embellishments, journal embellishments, and paper crafting embellishments that could become a permanent part of my creative toolbox.

Not a collection tied to a specific theme.

Not a collection I'd use once and forget about.

A collection I'd reach for over and over again.

A collection that could help make paper craft layering easier.

A collection that could help turn a pile of individual pieces into beautiful layered projects.

Today, that idea has grown into 82 coordinating color palettes containing nearly 2,000 printable embellishment pages designed to help you create beautiful projects faster and with less frustration.

And the process is surprisingly simple:

Pick Your Palette.
Print and Cut.
Mix and Match.
Layer and Create.
The Collection You'll Reach For First

When I first started creating printable embellishments, I noticed something interesting.

The embellishments I used most often weren't necessarily the fanciest ones.

They were the versatile ones.

The pieces that could work in a floral journal one day, a vintage project the next day, and a scrapbook layout after that.

The pieces that helped fill empty spaces.

The pieces that helped create beautiful junk journal clusters.

The pieces that added visual interest without overwhelming the page.

The pieces that simply worked.

That idea became the foundation of the Colorful Embellishments Collection.

Instead of building the collection around themes, I built it around color.

The same embellishment designs could suddenly feel romantic, coastal, botanical, elegant, vintage, whimsical, rustic, shabby chic, or sophisticated simply by changing the color palette.

The result is a collection that works beautifully alongside many of the other printable products already in my shop, as well as supplies you may already own.
Start With A Color Palette

One of the easiest ways to improve your projects is to start by choosing a color palette before you begin.

Color has an incredible impact on how a project feels. The exact same embellishments can feel completely different simply by changing the colors you use.

-Soft pinks and lavenders feel romantic and feminine.

-Creams and neutral tones often feel vintage and timeless.

-Greens create a natural botanical feel.

-Blues and sandy tones create a relaxed coastal atmosphere.

-Rich burgundies and deep purples create elegance and drama.

Before printing anything, take a moment to think about the mood you want your project to create.

Do you want something soft and delicate? Something vintage and nostalgic? Something bright and cheerful? Something elegant and sophisticated?

Your palette choice helps tell that story before anyone even reads a word on the page

A Beginner's Guide To Layering Embellishments

If you've never created layered embellishment clusters before, don't worry. Layering is much easier than it looks. In fact, most beautiful junk journal clusters are simply a collection of coordinating pieces that overlap one another.

Start with a larger base piece.

Add a paper scrap.

Add a frame.

Add a label.

Add a decorative accent.

Continue building until the arrangement feels balanced.

That's really all there is to it.

The magic happens when the pieces begin overlapping and creating depth.

The more you practice, the more natural it becomes.

And because the Colorful Embellishments Collection was specifically designed for paper craft layering, you'll find that the pieces naturally work together.
Create Clusters Before You Need Them

This is one of my favorite creative shortcuts.

Instead of creating an entire journal page from start to finish in one sitting, spend an evening creating clusters. Print a handful of coordinating pages - you can even size some pages down to create duplicates in different sizes for added variety.

Then cut them out and make several clusters.

Store them in envelopes, bins, folders, or organizers.

Then when you're ready to work on a project, you'll already have a collection of beautiful embellishments waiting for you.

This approach makes crafting feel less overwhelming and often leads to more creative projects because you're able to focus on designing the page rather than creating every embellishment from scratch.

One of the things I love most about this collection is how different colors can completely transform the same embellishment designs.

Watch how these five coordinating colors work together. Notice how different combinations create entirely different moods and personalities.

The colors you choose become part of the story you're telling.

Sometimes the most beautiful palettes aren't the obvious ones. Unexpected combinations often create the most memorable projects.
Color Mixing Can Completely Change A Project
Understanding RGB vs CMYK Colors

One question I receive fairly often involves color matching.

Sometimes a color appears slightly different on screen than it does when printed. This usually comes down to the difference between RGB and CMYK color systems.

Think of RGB as light.

Your computer monitor creates color using light.

Think of CMYK as ink.

Your printer creates color using ink.

Because colors are created differently on screens and printers, slight variations are completely normal.

This doesn't mean anything is wrong with your files.

It's simply part of the printing process.

Different printers, papers, printer settings, monitor calibrations, and ink brands can all influence how a color appears once it's printed.

The good news is that all of the printable embellishments and printable ephemera in my shop are already professionally formatted and prepared for printing. I take care of all the setup work so you won't need to convert anything, adjust color settings, or make any special changes before printing. Your files are designed to be as print-friendly and color-accurate as possible right from the start.

Even with properly prepared files, some minor color variation between screens and printed pages is always possible because every printer and printing environment is a little different. In most cases, the differences are very small and won't affect how beautifully your finished junk journal embellishments, journal embellishments, and paper crafting embellishments coordinate together.

If you're working on a specific project and you're wondering whether a particular Colorful Embellishments palette might coordinate well with something you're already using, feel free to send me a message through Etsy. I'll do my best to help answer your color questions and suggest colors that work well together.

The Heritage Collection and Vintage Botanical Collection
The Vintage Botanical Collection

The Vintage Botanical Collection brings together three beautifully coordinated palettes: Sage BlendDusty Lilac, and Warm Parchment Cream. Together, these colors create a soft vintage botanical aesthetic that's perfect for crafters who love elegant, nature-inspired projects. The muted greens, gentle lilac tones, and warm aged-cream neutrals blend effortlessly to create a timeless palette that feels both vintage and sophisticated.

This collection is especially lovely for botanical junk journals, garden-themed scrapbooks, cottagecore projects, vintage-inspired cards, layered embellishment clusters, and printable ephemera. Because all three palettes were designed to work together, you can freely mix and match pieces across the collection to create beautifully coordinated journal embellishments and paper crafting projects with ease.

The Heritage Collection

For crafters who love having multiple coordinating color palettes ready to go, curated collections can be a wonderful option.

The Heritage Collection combines several carefully selected palettes that work beautifully together.

Dusty Periwinkle BlueMuted Moss Green, and Smoky Driftwood Beige. Together, these colors create a timeless vintage palette that feels both elegant and versatile. The soft blue adds a touch of faded charm, the muted green brings an earthy botanical feel, and the warm beige helps tie everything together with a weathered, aged-paper look.

This particular color combination works especially well when you're creating projects with a slightly more masculine feel. While many vintage and floral palettes naturally lean feminine, these colors provide a beautiful alternative for heritage-themed journals, family history albums, travel journals, outdoor adventure scrapbooks, nature-inspired paper crafts, fishing or camping memory books, vintage correspondence projects, and masculine greeting cards.

The palette is also perfect for documenting old photographs. The aged beige tones pair beautifully with sepia and black-and-white photos, while the dusty blue and moss green
