**QUICK GIFTING TIP**

The BEST kind of mug is the kind filled with goodies! What does the scrapbooker on your shopping list like to drink?  Add treats to your gift like small individual serving packets of their favorite hot beverage! Some specialty hot chocolate packets? Their favorite tea or coffee? You can place them right inside the mug and wrap some cellophane around, then tie with a pretty ribbon!
First I'll start with a very brief tutorial on how to make your own custom mugs! This project is so easy I know you're going to love it! I first saw this idea on Pinterest as a "Sharpie Pen Custom Mug tutorial" and I was sooo excited to try it out! What a Disappointment! I spent forever creating my design only to see it wash off the cup with in a short couple of weeks. Super bummed I did a little more looking into painting on ceramics an I found that DecoArt Glass Paint Pens were a must! The quality and longevity of these pens was undeniable and I've used them to make several designs for a variety of occasions.

I made this set of mugs shown to the left for me and Eric. He's a huge fan of Bigfoot, and I myself can't live with out a little Jane Austen in my life, so I used a plain black DecoArt Glass Paint Pen to create these

To make your own, use a clean mug and simply draw your design with the pens! Once your design is finished, let it dry overnight. I let my mugs dry for a full 24 hours just to be safe!

Follow the directions on the side of the pen to set the paint.  Place your mugs on a cookie sheet in a cold oven, and turn the oven on to 375 degrees Fahrenheit. Let them bake for 40 minutes and cool completely in the oven before removing!
Here's another custom set I made! This was for my sister and her family for Christmas! Simple but fun! Throw in some gourmet hot cocoa and some "Snowman Poop" (aka miniature marshmallows) and this gift is ready to go!
Another "Custom Mugs" example. This set was made for our friends as a gift for their wedding. Simple but very fun! If you're even thinking about making your own custom mugs, DO! You'll be so glad you did! It really is as easy as it looks to create your own custom mugs and dishes. Check out our new book, The Handmade Gift Guide, here for the complete tutorial for this project, including more pictures and ideas for your custom dishes. (The book also is filled with other great handmade gift ideas that your friends and family will love!)
